The territory
Lake Bracciano is one of the largest of Lazio and covers an area of about 60 square kilometers. The lake is of volcanic origin with a circular perimeter of the mirror about 32 km of water and is 165 meters above sea level, the deepest point at 165 meters. The effluent of Lake Bracciano is the Arrone river and the water of the lake is a major water supply for Rome. The area of the lake consists of dense vegetation, including forests, olive groves and a large fauna that is guarded and controlled by the Regional Natural Park of Bracciano Martignano.



Lake Activities
Many activities waiting for you on vacation at Lake Bracciano, from simple relaxation to the nature excursions, visiting  the area and the great natural heritage hidden in the dense vegetation of the lake. If you happen to visit Bracciano we suggest you rent a bike to explore the lake, a unique experience with nature to try alone or with a guided tour. If you enjoy sports on lake allows you to attend the sailing clubs, sailing and surf lessons, rent a boat for a romantic tour and there is also the opportunity to participate in the races which are held every season in Bracciano.


Alternatively you can visit museums, villages, ruins and historic houses that surround the lake, as the splendid Castle Orsini-Odescalchi and the Air Force Historical Museum located in Vigna Valle. The surroundings of the lake
On the shores of Lake Bracciano are also the ancient villages of Trevignano Romano and Anguillara Sabazia. Trevignano stands on an ancient Roman hill inhabited since Etruscan times known as Sabatia. Anguillara Sabazia is a charming old, too old property of the Orsini family, famous for its beautiful Piazza del Comune, where there is also the baronial palace of the sixteenth century.



The Castle of Bracciano and religious buildings

Bracciano is distinguished especially during the Renaissance when it became the property of the Orsini family, then moved to the Odescalchi in 1696. Lake Bracciano is in fact dominated by the famous Castle Orsini-Odescalchi, which in time became one of the most prestigious Renaissance courts. Today you can visit the castle to admire paintings, fine porcelain and a large collection of historical weapons belonging to the Roman family. In addition to the castle we suggest you visit the Church of St. Maria Novella and the Church of St. Stefano. The backdrop to the two religious buildings is the medieval town of Bracciano, characterized by narrow alleys, old houses and shops.



How to get to Lake Bracciano

By train:

Termini Station: Metro Railway FM5 Roma-Civitavecchia to Rome Ostiense Train Station (2 stops). From Ostiense Station take Railway FM3 to Anguillara, Vigna di Valle or Bracciano

By car:

From Rome: Via Flaminia / GRA / Exit Cassia direction Viterbo Veietana / Output Cesano / Cesano - follow the signposts for Bracciano

From Civitacvecchia / SS Aurelia/A12: Exit Cerveteri -> follow the signposts for Bracciano
Aurelia: Crossroad Cerveteri - follow the signposts for Bracciano

From Firenze/Orte/A1: Exit Magliano Sabino / Civita Castellana / Nepi / Cassia towards Rome until junction Settevene / Trevignano / Bracciano
