The exhibition "Roma al tempo di Caravaggio 1600 - 1630" aims to reconstruct the artistic career of Caravaggio during his Roman period, through his works and those of his colleagues and friends, such as Annibale Carracci, the founder of classical Bologna's painting.
The exhibition examines the period from 1595 to 1635, a period that saw the reign of four great popes: Clement VIII Aldobrandini, Pope Paul V Borghese, Gregory XIV Boncompagni and Urban VIII Barberini.
140 works will be exhibited from churches, museums and international collections. In addition there will be also the "St. Augustine", a new piece found in Spain and attributed to Caravaggio.
