The myth of Italy in Victorian England

From Thursday, February 24, 2011 to Saturday, 11 June 2011 a major exhibition devoted to the relationship between British art of the nineteenth century and the Italian culture: Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne Jones and the best artist of Sixteenth Century.

From the "flavor of the primitive" to the Sixteenth Century, beginning with the Italian-inspired landscapes of William Turner, through the work of John Ruskin on cycles of paintings, monuments and architecture. Among the works and paintings on display will find the collection of Pre-Raphaelite Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones, William Morris and representatives of the Symbolist aesthetic culture, and as Albert Moore, George F. Watts and John William Waterhouse


Also on display are paintings by Giotto, Crivelli, Carpaccio, Botticelli, Sebastiano del Piombo, Palma Vecchio, Bergognone, Luini, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto - to testify, and in the diversity of cultural climate, their impact in the English area.
