Safety in Rome

Visit Rome feeling safe and comfortable while doing it! Here are some tips for a safe holiday in Rome, and some useful numbers to use in case of emergencies.

Rome is a quiet and safe city environment to spend your holidays. You can stroll around the city all day long stress free, as long as you use common sense! The only real advice we give you is to be aware of pickpockets.  Keep your purses zippered closed and your wallets in the front pockets when you travel on public transportation.  In the evening you can safely walk the streets in the center, but try to avoid dark alleys, Termini Train Station and subway stations located on the periphery of Rome.  No matter where you are, walking in a group is always safer, so just use your best judgment.

To report theft or harassment of any kind, remember to call immediately the Carabinieri at 112 or Polizia di Stato at 113
