We recommended to walk from one place to another since all the locations are in the city center or along the river.
To visit the sites mentioned takes about 4 or 5 hours, depending on the time you decide to stay in each site.
A walk along the Tiber River to discover the museums, the historic squares of Rome, the ancient churches and the wonderful Sant'Angelo Castle.
Our itinerary starts from People’s Square, where you can get both by bus and metro (Line A, stop at "Flaminio"). Here there is the beautiful Church of Our Lady of the People. From People’s Square go along Via di Ripetta and after a few hundred meters you will find the Ara Pacis, one of the most famous monuments of Rome, built in 9 BC to celebrate Emperor Augustus . If you want you can come to visit the museum, open all week except Monday. From Via di Ripetta you'll arrive to Via della Scrofa, along which you will find the ancient Church of Rome’s French Community. Turn right on Via del Salvatore and in a few minutes you will arrive in Navona Square, the large square with the beautiful fountains. Cross the square and walk to Via del Governo Vecchio, the Roman road known for its historical buildings, its several restaurants and trendy clubs. Along the way, you can also visit the Church of St Mary in Valicella. Continue on Via dei Banchi Nuovi and arrive in Via dei Banchi di Santo Spirito, again on the Tiber! Now you are in front of one of the most beautiful monuments of Rome, Sant’Angelo Castle. Walking on Sant'Angelo Bridge you’ll arrive in front of the spectacular castle of Rome, built by emperor Hadrian in 125 DC. If you're not too tired we suggest you to visit the castle where you will find the beautiful papal apartments and Hadrian's Mausoleum.
