The itinerary of Rome to discover the beautiful squares of the city: from Navona Square to St Peter's Square including the special tour of Sant'Angelo Castle.
We recommended to walk from one place to another since all the locations are in the city center or along the river.
To visit the sites mentioned it takes about 4 or 5 hours, depends on the time you decide to stay in the places.
This itineary starts from Navona Square, where you can admire the beautiful fountains and the some of best pieces of roman architecture. Go in Via del Governo Vecchio, the Roman road known for the historical buildings, the several restaurants and trendy clubs. Along the way, you can also visit the Church of St Mary in Valicella. Continue on Via dei Banchi Nuovi and arrive in Via dei Banchi di Santo Spirito, again on the Tiber! Now you are in front of one of the most beautiful monuments of Rome, Sant’Angelo Castle. Walking on Sant'Angelo Bridge you’ll arrive in front of the spectacular castle of Rome, built by emperor Hadrian in 125 DC. We suggest you visit the inside of the castle where you will find the beautiful papal apartments and the Mausoleum of Hadrian. From here continue on Via della Conciliazione that connects Sant'Angelo Castle to the St Peter's Basilica, built by Mussolini in 1936.
