This itinerary takes you to discover the churches and basilicas of the historic centre of Rome, walking up the Pincio.
It is highly recommended to walk from one place to another since all the locations are in the city center.
It takes about 8 hours to visit the locations mentioned, depending on how much time you decide to stop in each place.
The itinerary starts from Flaminio Train Station, easily reached by subway, at "Flaminio" (Line A). From here, enter into the People's Square and take Via Gabriele D'Annunzio on the left to walk up to the Pincio to see one of the most beatiful panoramic views of Rome. Continue along Via Gabriele D'Annunzio and then take Viale della Trinità dei Monti. Here you'll see the great gothic Church of Trinità dei Monti. From the church walk down the Spanish Steps to get to Spain's Square (Piazza di Spagna) a famous roman square, full of shops and interesting monuments. Continue the tour to the left along Via Sistina and turn left onto Via dei Cappuccini until reach Via Vittorio Veneto. Here you can visit the Church of Immaculate Conception. Follow the winding Via Veneto down to Barberini Square. From here take Via delle Quattro Fontane and continue until you reach the intersection with Via del Quirinale. Turn right and you'll see the church of St Andrew's at the Quirinal, considered one of the finest examples of Baroque style architecture in Rome. Continue the tour along Via del Quirinale and turn left onto Via Ferrara. Cross Via Piacenza and go straight down along Via Milano. St Vitale Basilica, the characteristic roman church full of beautiful mosaics, is found here. Now take Via del Boschetto and turn left onto Via Leonina followed by a quick right onto Via Eudossiana where you'll see the St Peter in Chains Basilica. The famous Moses statue by Michelangelo is housed here. The itinerary ends here. To return to the starting point, you can take the subway at "Cavour" (Line B).
