Description

Siena Square, located inside Villa Borghese was named after the hometown of one of the oldest and noblest families in Rome: the Borghese. This square was dreamt up by the Prince Marcantonio who commissioned the architects Antonio and Mario Asprucci in the late eighteenth century to design a new space that would remind the Prince of one of his favorite places. His intention was to recreate the atmosphere of the traditional festivals and Palios that have taken place in Siena since the Middle Ages. Since 1922, equestrian competitions have taken place in Siena Square. In 2003,The Horse Show at Siena Square was added to the Super League circuit, which is a list of the 8 best FEI official international competitions.
