Description
Villa Adriana is located in Tivoli and is the ancient residence of the Emperor Hadrian built during the Republican age. The villa is one of the largest Roman villas ever existed, and covers about 120 acres of buildings, gardens and archaeological excavations. Villa Adriana rises on the site of another Roman villa and it is very charming, during your visit you can admire the beautiful gardens, fountains and pools, basilicas, temples, the "Maritime Theatre", the stadium, the "Canopo", the large thermae and the "Complex of Pecile," the beautiful monumental portico with a pool in the center. To reach Villa Adriana you can take the highway A24, exit at Tivoli Road and continue on Via Maremmana Inferiore until reach Villa Adriana. From the center of Rome take Via Tiburtina, direction for Tivoli until reach Villa Adriana. Otherwise you can take the train, stop at Tivoli’s station and from there continue by bus Cotral (Line: Rome-Tivoli-Via Tiburtina) to Villa Adriana.
