Description
The Botanical Garden of Rome is located on the Gianicolo and was founded one century ago. The Botanical Garden grows in what used to be the Papal Botanical Gardens going back to the Renaissance. Today the garden contains more than 3,000 species, with a Japanese garden, bamboo groves, and a Giardino dei Semplici containing over 300 species of medicinal plants. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, but closed entirely in August. To reach Botanical Garden from Termini Train Station you can take the bus n 40, get off at "Chiesa Nuova" and continue on foot for about 800 metres.
