Description
The Capitoline Museums are located in Campidoglio's Square and are the oldest museum complex in Rome. The Capitoline Museums are housed in two buildings facing each other: Palazzo dei Conservatori and Palazzo Nuovo. Home to a large art collection consists of Roman sculptures, including statues of the famous "wolf" and the Emperor Marcus Aurelius on horseback. The museums include the Pinacoteca Capitolina, with two major private collections: Sacchetti and Pio. From the square you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the Roman Forum. To reach the Capitoline Museums you can take the subway (Line B) stop at "Colosseo" or bus: from Via dei Fori Imperiali (lines 84, 85, 87, 175, 186, 810, 850) by way of plebiscite (lines 46, 62, 63, 64, 70, 80, 81, 87, 186, 492, 628, 640, 810), Via del Teatro Marcello (lines 44, 63, 81, 95, 160, 170, 175 , 204, 628, 715, 716, 780, 781).
